AGU’s Meeting of the Americas offers a wide variety of activities and events for students to network, interact with famous scientists, present their work and receive career path advice!
Student Travel Grants
A limited number of travel grants are available for students planning to attend the Meeting of the Americas. This program provides financial assistance to U.S. and international young scientists and students who have little or no support from research contracts or grants, and who are presenting for an oral/poster presentation as first author at the meeting. There are two types of travel grants offered to students:
General Student Travel Grant: All students may apply, but preference will be given to students from races, countries, and genders which are underrepresented in the sciences.
Lloyd V. Berkner Travel Fellowship: Early career scientists and students under 35 years of age who are residents of countries designated by the World Bank as “low” or “lower-middle” income per capita. To see a full listing of Berkner eligible countries, please click here.
Applications Open: 1 January 2013
Application Deadline : 15 February 2013
*** The deadline has passed. Applications will no longer be accepted. ***
Outstanding Student Paper Awards (OSPA)
The Outstanding Student Paper Awards (OSPAs) are awarded to promote, recognize and reward undergraduate, Master’s and PhD students for quality research in the geophysical sciences. Each year, sections and focus groups recruit judges to assess and score student presentations. Typically the top 3-5% of presenters in each section/focus group are awarded an OSPA. Students request to be considered during the abstract submission process and cannot be added after the abstract submission deadline. More information can be found here.
